One of the most common questions we get at Paint n Brush The Creativity Cafe is: "What happens to my pottery after I paint it?" Great question! The magic doesn't stop when you put down your brush — in fact, some of the most exciting transformation happens after you leave.
Here's a peek behind the curtain at our glazing and firing process. 🔥
Step 1: You Paint It
You choose your piece, pick your colors, and create your masterpiece. Our studio-grade underglazes are vibrant, food-safe, and designed to look even more beautiful after firing.
Step 2: We Apply the Glaze
After your session, our team carefully applies a clear glaze coat over your painted piece. This glaze is what gives finished pottery that gorgeous, glossy shine — and it also makes your piece food-safe and dishwasher-safe.
Step 3: Into the Kiln
Your piece goes into our kiln and is fired at high temperature. This process fuses the glaze to the clay, permanently setting your colors and creating that smooth, glass-like finish.
Step 4: Quality Check + Pickup
After cooling, we inspect each piece and notify you when it's ready for pickup — typically within 7–10 days. The transformation is always stunning!
🎨 Pro Tips for Better Results
- Apply 3 coats of underglaze for the richest color payoff after firing
- Dark colors (navy, black, deep red) tend to intensify after firing
- Light colors (yellow, white) may appear more muted — layer generously!
